Meet Sue Ellison-Whyte

Sue is a local resident with her family in the Briars Ward and runs a small business on the Mornington Peninsula. She brings legal expertise, small business experience and grassroots community engagement to champion practical, transparent decisions on council.

Local Roots

Sue’s extended family has a long history and connection with the Mornington Peninsula. Her parents moved into a cousin’s farm property in Point Leo in 2001 as caretakers. In 2011, Sue relocated her own family to the Mornington Peninsula and has lived and worked locally ever since.

Professional Background

Approximately 6 years ago, she founded her own boutique legal practice on the Peninsula, after years working across local firms in estate planning, conveyancing, probate and property law. She’s admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia, but her day-to-day work is local — helping Peninsula families and small businesses navigate property settlements, wills, and everyday legal problems.

Why Council

That grounding shapes how she sees council: not as an abstract institution, but as the body that decides whether the footpath outside your house gets fixed, whether the bike path gets built, and whether residents are genuinely consulted before decisions are made. Sue is running for Briars Ward because she believes local government works best when it’s practical, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.

Community Involvement

Sue and her family are active members in the local community. They engage in surf life saving, women’s afl, Mt Martha CFA, Coast Guard, Scouts and local business networks.
